If ya'll ever run out of problems with a boat, please let me unload some of mine.
Apparently I got more than my share.

What is that, that is the port gas tank leaking.
Well, I'll pull it out (again) and see if it is salvageable.
Didn't leak when full of water (oh asskick), gas is thinner than water. :P

I'm to the point now, all I want to do is throw it in the water and see how it performes.
Fixed the leak in the tank by drilling a 5/32" hole and putting this stuff on it.


I do remember useing something like it years ago and had great results.
Well at least it will prolong having to buy saddle tanks maybe for this year.

Did get the batteries mounted, bilge pump in (MJ) and the key switch fixed.
Still got to decide on the seating, but for now I think I'm almost out of excuses.

Tsub, you are doing a great job and getting really close. Nice pics and documentary!

I do have one question though and excuse my ignorance if you've already said the reason...but I was wondering why you went with the jackplate? Looks like a 20" motor and 20" transom so unless you just want to be able to get into skinnier water I don't understand the need for the jackplate? Is it manual or hydraulic?

The motor looks about 7 or 8 inches too high in this pic:

I have been trying to decide on seatting since I got my V. I bought some folding deck chairs, the nice padded ones, as a temporary thing but they are working so well for me that I think they will be my permenant system.

You can put in several of em for riding and skiing and take em out for fishing. If the sun happens to move in the sky while you are out you can slide your chair under the shade, and they were cheeper than anything else I could find. I got mine @ Basspro, they were on sale for $89.

I am still in search of a nice helm seat to replace the original one that is too narrow for my butt.

It's a hydraulic.
The position now is the highest it will go, which will be about 4" deeper than it needs to be while barely moveing, say trolling or shallow water.
Something interesting about the boat, when Daddy owned it he was telling me he could bump across bars to get into inlets around here. The bow would be barely deeper than the motors foot and just barely moveing he could literally bump across the bar to get into the inlets and fish.
At the lowest position it's about 1 1/4" above the bottom of the boat, which is too deep. So I seem to have a lot of room for error.
The setback is about 5" so it needs to be about 2" above the bottom or more.
A test run will let me know.
Also look at the picture if I let it down the prop will be in the dirt.
I'm most likely not going to have the same loads in the boat at any given time of the year. In the summer it might be light but in the fall & winter it will be loaded to capacity going on hunting trips, staying on islands for almost a week at the time.

Also, I do think that would be cool to be able to raise it up when in shallow water or getting over a bar :D

My uncle was a great flounder fisherman on the outer banks of NC. He used to get a running start and skid over the bars to get to his favorite spots.

Now hurry up and get that boat wet so we can see how that jackplate does. Looking gooooood!
