another bilge pump question? I've had trouble with the float switches and just noticed the bilge pumps with the sensor that starts the pump every minute or so and if it detects a higher amp load than a "freewheeling" impeller, it keeps running until the amp load drops. Has anybody had any experience with them?

yeah, i installed one, it went bad in less than a week, installed another, lasted less than a day. Replaced it with a Rule standard pump and a sure bail switch. That was right when they came out with them, they may have gotten better, i'm not going to be the one to test them

One (not suprisingly from MJ) about blocking them up - with any luck, I hope to have some fish scales to rinse off the deck, and I don't need a plugged up pump. On my '85, the deck "self bailes" by draining into the bilge, so the pump actually does the bailing.
