Default Bow Pulpit

I got a little done. The shim required to elevate the pulpit to my satisfaction does not exist. LOL. Here it is. A very special thanks to NYMACK for making it. Thanks brother. Why did I wait so long? Bow pulpit 002.jpg

I would have had pictures sooner but I was actually putting the boat to some good use. Relaxing Vacation..

The pulpit 24" Long by 13"Wide two pieces of 3/4" plywood laminated together and gelcoated. It is a long reach Lewmar with the double roller designed for the Delta. Chainstop works well as does the Mooring Bit.
No more anchoring on the quarter Fermanator.

I guess you didn't like the McGuyver rope tangle in the bow to anchor straight.

Es muy bien......I glad hear you no anchoring on quarter any more...I find it best to use at least a half a dolla!!......
Of course now this means you must bring her back to Charleston for closer inspection...

Not so smooth a start to the trip. We didn't have any problems but a F350 with four occupants lost control and rolled throwing 3 out of 4 people out of the vehicle. Two airlifts later we got to continue our journey. DSCF0018.jpg

Thanks Destroyer, the pulpit is what I will refer to as Version 1.1. I want to do one out of pure fiberglass and a few additional contours to pretty it up. I must say it worked like a charm. The Delta is a good anchor that set very fast. I also like the ability to break it out backwards if I get it wedged somewhere. That is when the pulpit will get a real test.

The shim under the pulpit I illuded to earlier was a real time consuming PITA. 3/4" starboard 13"W x 18"L. Over the 18" it tapers from 3/4" to 1/16". Tried to contour it to the convex deck, tried without it and it just didn't look right. Easily spent 2 hours grinding on the hunk of Starboard to make it what it is. Ran completely out of time just before vacation so I got it close and thru bolted it with SS hardware. Backing plate that you can't see was 3/16"Thick 12" x 18". If the pulpit goes south I will have bigger problems than that.
I sill need to be schooled on how to make a neat road to chain splice that will fit through the deck pipe so I can put a couple extra feet of chain on without wrapping it all around the bit. So it ain't finished yet, but it is useable. I am sure some can relate..
