Default newbie here .. first post .. need help on engine bracket purchase...

i have been viewing this site for a while and just picked up my center console last night. already looking for parts to complete a repower as the sea drive is dead.

saw this on ebay ..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA:IT&ih=005

would like to make an offer, but i want to make sure it is usable for my boat. mine is a center console 20' .. not even sure of the year yet, my guess is mid 80's.

when i did the measuring for the transom angle with a large framing square, i get a measurement of about 3" which is 12 degrees?

this bracket looks like more than 3" angle??? can it be used if not the correct exact angle?

any help before the auction ends?

thanks in advance...

Brad

It will work!!

When you mount it you will want to mount it so you can add a 25" shaft. It is do able with a 20" but you will be more pron to dunking that way.

Good Luck!

Take a picture of the right side of the boat above the stern lifting eye, that is the HID number with all the info needed for identification.
Oh, POST THE PICTURE.

i really want to make sure this bracket will work .. hate to drop $400-$500 to find out that the angle on this bracket will not fit my boat.

macojoe ... R U sure?

seems like a fair price based on the prices i got so far.

thoughts???

MJ has bracketed a "75 (I think) cuddy I/O conversion.
If he ain't right, there is a very slim margin of error.

Welcome to the site.

The way I understand it, you can make most any bracket work, but if the angles are different, you will have to do a fair amount of measuring and figuring to get the bracket mounted at the correct height.

I've seen brackets several hundred less than the asking price on that one, although it does looks new.

Don't get in too big of a hurry, there are many fish in the sea Grasshoppah.

About how much do the ones with the platform cost? My catamaran has one and I really like it for ease of climbing into the boat. Mine's got a kicker bracket one one side and a ladder on the other. I've even seen one with an ice chest mount on one side. I think its made by stainless marine but its aluminum.
