Mush, I didnt take it out. I had someone do it . and he wound up cutting a hole in both ends of the tank and put a chain thru it an pulled it out with a fork lift.

Yea, I read your original post a few weeks back.I was just wondering if it was a ball breaker.
Chain and forklift seem like the way to go.

I know some manufacturers use pvc tubing for wire runs bow to stern, but they would not run them along the keel area would they?

lumber....

My tank had the same PVC pipe under it. It appeared to be there to allow water to pass from the forward bilge to the rear under the tank due to the foam all around the tank that could have obstructed the flow otherwise. The ends on mine were all rotten (if that's the right word for deteriorated PVC). I suspect it had something to do with the gas leak. I wonder if gas dissolves PVC over time?? I do not plan to reinstall a PVC pipe since my new tank will not be foamed. As long as the flow is not obstructed by the tank I see no reason for the PVC.

Whale, I figured it had to be original . Are you putting in a plastic tank? Iam haveing mine refabircated from the original 1 inch smaller in diamention and I think hes going to make it two inches taller in height and it wont be foamed in , it will have heavy rubber attached to the bottom. its an aluminum tank powder coated. I will have more pics when the tanks done.

That sounds like a plan whale, are you going to seal the hull be 4 you install the new tank? and how are you planning on fastening it back in.
