Default Key West Fishing??

Well looks lijke the 2nd week or so I will be going t5o the keys with a couple of friends for some Mutton snapper

How are they to eat, fight, how do you go for them?? We are charting a boat so I am sure they will tell all but I was wondering if anyone here go for them and know anything about them??

I think we are going to fly to Miami and hit the batrs the first night then drive the 5 hours to the keys for a 2 day fishing trip and bact to Miami for some more nudy bars before we get back on the plane!

Will be my first trip to FL and only the 2nd time on a plane:jump:

You know there is a fine line between bragging and smearing it in. Hell you doing great at both. I'd be looking forward to hangovers if I were you.

Good for you MJ, I hear mutton snapper are delicious. I'd imagine regular bottom fishing for them.

While your down there see if you can catch a Goliath Grouper, they have developed quite a catch and release fishery for them in the last few years.

Is mutton the only thing you plan to fish for? Be careful with prohibited species like goliath grouper. DONT TAKE THEM OUT OF THE WATER! Florida passed a law prohibiting people from removing illegal fish out of the water. As for bait, bring a variety including live, dead, and maybe even lures. I've never fished for mutton snapper but i have fished for red snapper, mingo snapper, etc. Oh yeah and lots of chum helps too! :fart:

We will be going on a chater so all the stuff is provided. I was more intrested in weathter they tasted good or not, and what kind of fight we are going to get, so far sounds like Cod fishing, get a nice hit and reel up a boot??

No matter, first time to the sunshine state for me and to Key West no less, The only thing I am worried about is I hear if I meet a girl there that I better check to make sure she doesn't have bumper nuts!!:frow:
