Default Dead Fish Finder

My Garmin 160 $hit the bed today!

It comes on then the screen goes blank?? It is on and blank, I have to power down and repower. Then it comes on and screen goes blank again, sometimes it comes back if you leave it on.

I am going to have to call garmin and see whats up?

Does anyone no what happens when a transducer goes?

MJ - sounds like a power problem.

You could unplug the ducer and run the finder in demo mode . . . see if it behaves the same way.

checked all wires today, all tight and look fine? I turned the finder on here in the yard and seemed to be fine??

I am going to try again tomorrow on another fluke run? We will see what it does?

I was having the same symptoms with a Hummingbird POS.
I loosened the screws for the cover a little, and it would stay on for ever. It was overheating!!!!!!!

So I trashed the HB and got a Lowrance Globalmap 2000. No more problems.

I would suggest loosen the screws a little and see if its a overheating problem.
I really dont think that is a problem with a Garmin. But, its worth a try.

I talked to MJ today and I'm leaning towards a low voltage issue. We'll find out soon. ;)
