Thanks Seakindly for the fine read!! I have been having a problem with overflowing! and have not figured it out I have been told by a few that it is the float switch in the main tank?? I have been told by a yamaha guy that it is the control unit?? But this articale says if the Cap on the main tank is not aligned it coud do this also?? I had it off at one point and don't ever remember lineing the Arrows up?? Could it be that simple?? Not for me!! But I am going to check. Thanks again!!

Macojoe, To test the shut off float switch on the engine oil tank, all you have to do is take the float assembly out of the tank and remove the strainer - then slide the float all the way up. if the upper float switch is working correctly - the remote tank pump will stop. If you slide it all the way down then alarms go off. at an in between position - a switch tells the remote pump to pump. When you put the float assembly back in the tank, make sure the arrow and notches line up. The outlet nipple on the float switch/strainer assembly must sit in the very bottom of the tank outlet hole or else the float can bind. You can feel that it is in the groove by wiggleing it side to side. Good luck! |

Also, if this works for you, don't forget to bleed the air out of the system, after you refill the tank, before you run the motor. :o |

A good idea for anyone with a yammie: Print out that article (no telling how long that link will last), and staple it to the inside back cover of your service manual. |
