Default Beaufort May 18 and 19

Thursday only fished a couple of hours as I helped a guy with a screwed up charter most of the day. Some small blues and spanish along the left shore line towards the cape but really rough at a solid 20mph blow..Friday I went out at 4am and it was slick to the Big Rock with a Charter Boat friend and again by noon it was very rough blowing at least 20mph. No tuna fishies but 4 Kings at around 20 to 25 lbs each. Frank

Ya I know. I can uually get out of the blow but its been all over the place the last couple of weeks. The fish are here but you cant get to them without a long rough ride. Even Bogue and shackelford banks had white caps .Today its also blowing hard and both of my dive captain friends brought their divers in real early..Next week I hope to get on the cobia..frank

We were coming back in about 5 miles past the Beaufort sea buoy and he had sardines with some kind of jig thing in front and a belly hook. Green, Orange and blue and going very slow. I usually just troll big spoons for them but I never catch any larger than 7 or 8 lbs on spoons. Frank

Well if you ask me those little 24" - 32" kings taste better anyway, but on the flipside, there's nothing like a 20 - 25lber making your reel siiiiiiing on the slow troll either!! Its a trade-off.

As much as you fish, you need a digital camera my friend. ;)

Old buddy of mine many years ago INSIDE Jax FL harbour...ridin' around on a friend's BLOW-BOAT...he decides to toss out a silver spoon and drag it off a surf rig...WHAM...lots of fightin' later he pulls along side a 50lb King...had to shoot it to get it aboard...I saw the pics and had some steaks at the time...monster!!... :o...
