Considering adding electric winch to my trailer ....
Seen too many crap winches at ramps that can’t do the job. Any recommendations for long lasting powerful winch ? |

I had a Powerwinch on a mako I had bout 35 years ago, it worked great. What ever you get, double block it. I have my hand winch double blocked and it makes a big difference

Increase the pulling power but 1/2 the speed

Phat nailed it. Powerwinch is the way to go *IF* you want a marine winch. However, Harbor freight sells the "Badlands" brand 12V winches that are made for offroad use and several people here used them. If I recall CaptPete was one of them and made a few posts about them. Not sure but I think that someone else also used them with good results.
All 3 of my boats trailers have Powerwinchs on them (KEEP a sharp eye on Craigslist for them... usually hundreds less than brand new).

D..... I***8217;m talking power in a winch ......not all those struggling, barely moving at all underpowered or worn out winches we see in action at the ramps !! Hah
My hand crank with new strap is fine.....and my son likes to show off but some days now I***8217;d just prefer to press a button !! |
