Question More Greenies

Last Wednesday we went down to pick up some more Green crabs, we picked up another 1/2 bushel and put them in the containers. Saturday when Joe went down to do some Porgy fishing with his wife Maureen, he checked the crabs, 98% of them were dead. No one can figure out why, me, at first thought we were over loading the bins but we put more in them before. I think the water is still too warm (78-80), plus I don't think there is enough of oxygen in the water. I put the order in for Friday, I will be heading again to pick up another 1/2 bushel, some clams for Porgy's, a new and a bigger holding trap and we shall see what happens. We've had cooler day's and nights, maybe the water temp has dropped a bit?

Cool

Sorry on the loss of the crabs. I know that's an expensive loss. Better luck with the new batch and the larger holding pen.

Yesterday we picked up the new holding cage, it's 24x24x18, Joe took it home with him. Picking up new crabs on Friday, let's hope they can stay alive in this one, plus the water temp has dropped already.
