Well I have made my mind up to remove the VRO on my old OMC. Gonna look up in the manual best practice to get it done. Seems like a simple process, pull wires, plug the line. Any tips on purging the straight gas from the fuel lines and water separator prior to starting?

Don't know about the mechanical part, but i'd pre-mix what u have in your tank and go run the boat for an hour or so, then disable the oil injection.

disconnect fuel from engine, run engine dead. mix oil in tank, put end of fuel line in tank, squeeze ball to pump fuel until color of fuel changes.

I did this on my 1990 Merc Black Max. I run 50:1 synthetic, and add sea foam, startron and sta-bil. So far, so good.
