Default striped bass

Picked a 30lb and a 32" off LBI trolling on friends boat.

Both fish hit the same Mojo rig despite trolling 2 identical, plus spoons and umbrella rig.

Told friend not to do anything different with that Mojo rig - keep on same pole, same line .
Sometimes a rig just catches most of the fish even if all seems the same.

Nice catches!

You are right about how one setup can sometimes be the one the fish want, last week Dave and I were freshwater fishing for largemouth, same spot, same lure, same retrieve, he caught 4 fish to my one at one of the places we fished. Only difference we could figure was different line diameter.

RMB - were you anchored up in a current or casting? We find, anchored in the Columbia river, that a rig on one side of the boat will catch fish while one 10' away won't (farther out or closer to the bank). The fish sometimes find a path in the water and go pretty much single file.

Definitely not arguing the point about one particular rig sometimes being nearly magic, just curious about your experience.

We were on the trolling motor in his bass boat on the local lake. Very little current if any, we haven't had much rain this fall and the lake is down a good 4 feet. We were casting KVD 6XD crainkbaits on a submerged bridge and old roadbed, 30 feet beside 8 feet of water, the bass were chasing schools of shad.

Was trolling.......and had the two same mojo's back the same distance. We figure the line just provided a slightly more enticing swim....or the rig itself.
