Ok so most of you active members have seen my new new bright green project. Although the finish doesn't look bad, me and the wifey have come to the conclusion that she (the boat, not the wife) needs to be painted. I've looked into it and it seems the Awlcraft 2000 seems like a good product. I've watched a few videos on rolling and tipping and it seems to be a good way of doing it.
If I have the ability and equipment to spray the hull would that be a better route than rolling and tipping? I've painted plenty of cars so laying down a nice smooth coat shouldn't be a problem. So what are advantages to rolling and tipping. Also does anyone know approximately how much paint I'd need. It's basically just from the water line to the gunwale that would need painted. Thanks for your input.

If you have the equipment and ability to spray her I would go that route. Most likely will have the best looking results especially since you've done it before.
Rolling and tipping is good if you don't want to strip off the trim etc or tape everything. Takes 2 people who kinda know what they're both doing/thinking in my opinion.

Well I just read somewhere that you can't roll and tip Awlcraft 2000 anyways. Also read it is an Acrylic Urethane paint as well. I've painted cars with Acrylic Urethane I've gotten mixed at my local NAPA. Reckon it's the same paint? Much cheaper at NAPA. I know it's something I don't want to skimp on but I also know put 2 identical things in boxes and slap a MARINE sticker on one of them and you'll get charged twice as much.

The roll and tip method seems fair and easy to do but i have heard and seen a few horror stories...its not as easy as it looks. Just my opinion spraying the paint just gives you such a better job.

Looks good Spareparts. I believe I will just spray her. I have the tools, facilities and know how. Now just to decide what paint and color.
