Default 3-way fuel valve HELP

I bought an additional above deck tank to fit under my bench seat. I bought a brass 3 way valve online. Hooked it all up - when I turn the selector know it spews fuel from the selector stem! So I got a refund, bought another brand at the local marine store. Hooked it all up - same sh!t!!! Now I have to take it back too.

What do you suggest? Will the brass ball valves for h2o systems at Lowes work for fuel? I can piece something together - there's got to be something out there. I'm getting tired of looking....help!

Remove the collar over the stem, inspect, replace, lubricate the oring or seal, tighten the collar.

Thanks smoke, but I'm done with these cheap azz nylon ball valve fuel selectors. I just got back from tractor supply where I got two 5/16 universal shutoff valves. Those will be on either side of a 5/16 brass T and I can turn one off and the other on, vice versa. it just sux that there isn't a good out of the box solution for this (that I could find anyway). I'll post pix in the year 2021. :-)

Thats probably the one he had. If you look inside, you'll see it's a nylon valve inside of it that does the actual work of sealing off. A quick check on AMAZON reviews shows ALOT of complaints with them. All the ones I've ever done, we just put a valve to each tank. Costs a few dollars more, but always works.

Ferms right. That's the exact one I had. Two of em from two different manufacturers to be exact. Friggin pieces of junk!!!

I ended up at Tractor Supply and got two 5/16 universal fuel valves. Cobbled together a brass T with using NPT brass 3 way and hose barbs (yellow Teflon tape, fuel rated) with the valves on either side, pulling from the two fuel sources. This seems far and away better so far, albeit not hooked it all up and tested yet. I will see if wifey will let me borrow her puter to upload a pic or three once I've tested this rube Goldberg contraption. hahahaha
