Hi Kracker,
I knew Va. Beach would be impacted by hurricanes, I didn't know until this year how bad it is.
It has been said recently that large areas of the Navy base are impassable during some of these storms, cut off and areas under water for days at a time, some areas without power.
They are saying the base and docks are now too low due to a rise in sea levels compounding the problem. There was a story about sailors trapped in a block house nearly drowning.
Since many of the townies work there, and many sailors live off base, they can not get on base to respond to the storm disaster or any other threat to the base.
Can you tell us what's going on there?
Good luck, Tom (13Echo)
