does any one know how to remove the wooden trim on the helm wheel? i dont want to break it

The center piece of teak? Should be an allen set screw holding it. Its located on the side of the center hub about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch down. Thats if you have a destroyer type design.

If you are talking about a wood rim it may not be readily removable.... The one I had, the wood was riveted on.

Mine has an allen screw that falls out all the time because I keep forgetting to put some locktite on it.

i did remove the allen key, but it still wouldn't come out. today i try to spin it out and the plug snap off the wooden base. i guess its time for some gorilla glue to keep it together.
