Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge has rooms and efficiencies. Very nice place with a heated pool.
I know a guy who has a place on Sugarloaf Key, but he rented it to a Dr. for the whole winter.

charlie, rmb is correct about big pine fish lodge, great place, very reasonable. some of the other cheaper places i've stayed are
looe key dive resort(further south on big pine key) boatels in marathon. a collection of old houseboats turned into rooms, some with kitchens, some just a large barge with individual bedrooms and a common bathroom, like a boarding house. key colony duplexes in marathon, usually through a realtor hampton inn in key west i will say it's been a while since i was there and the market is very fluid , but usually the further south you go, the more it cost. have you tried craigs list? good luck |

Charlie, I tried to find it but I can't for some reason. we stayed on 99th street at Marathon, right beside the town hall, we found it thru tripadviser.com It was a pretty cool place, but I'll be the first to tell you it sucked not having a boat with us, we didn't even have a kayak. If I were to do it all over again, I'd rather stay on the gulf side, especially not having a boat. But there was still plenty to do, and i drank a large amount of beer sitting on the back deck drowning bait in the canal behind the house. I'd go back again in a heart beat.
