Probably. But the idea of my wife (a novice shooter) being able to reliably hit a target (intruder) during a break in while I'm not there far outweighs the cost of a few bullets. Plus, while I'm sure they cost more than a normal shell, they have to be priced competitively or people won't buy them.

Ok, found their website and the price. http://www.mibullet.com/index.html A box of 45ACP has a M.S.R.P. of $60.00; but most dealers are selling it competitively at a Street Price of $49.99. A box of 12ga Mi-billets has a M.S.R.P. of $35.00 but most dealers are selling it competitively at a Street Price of $29.99. Still pricey, but less expensive than one would expect. What they don't say on their site is how many are in a box.

Unfortunately for me, 9mm shells are not available yet, however they say they will be on the shelves by the first quarter of 2014.

Yea if its a box of 20, and it probably aint, they arent that far from Critical Defense rounds. But all the same, you crack one 45 round in a 15x15 room and dont hit the guy I doubt he's gonna be around for the second shot!!!!!

I think I'm gonna have to take the other side on this one.

While increasing hit probability they are also multiplying miss probability by 300%..... Missing leads to collateral damage and accidentally hitting the wrong person.
Imagine killing the assailant and two hostages with one shot.

I feel for the plight of the housewife with bad aim but maybe the better solution would be practice.

Just my .02

They don't increase the miss ratio because there is a wire between the pieces of the bullet. It will also only expand to a specific size so it will be less likely to loose a pellet like a load of buckshot.

I still think the best thing to have in the house is a dog. Burgulars typically walk right over to your neighbor's house when they see any signs of a dog.

If they do get by my dog they are going to have a bad day. My wife made me promise that I wouldn't shoot anyone in the head or chest. I am supposed to aim for the groin!
