President Obama and his family are planning to travel to Senegal, Tanzania, and South Africa this month and to spend up to $100 million!!!! of tax money on their trip. Essentially, a paid vacation and heritage tour, the trip will involve extensive federal expenditure at a time when federal employees are on furlough working four day weeks due to sequester.

According to the Washington Post:

"Hundreds of U.S. Secret Service agents will be dispatched to secure facilities in Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania. A Navy aircraft carrier or amphibious ship, with a fully staffed medical trauma center, will be stationed offshore in case of an emergency. Military cargo planes will airlift in 56 support vehicles, including 14 limousines and three trucks loaded with sheets of bullet¬proof glass to cover the windows of the hotels where the first family will stay. Fighter jets will fly in shifts, giving 24-hour coverage over the president's airspace, so they can intervene quickly if an errant plane gets too close."

This is such a HUGE waste of taxpayer money as to be out of the rhelm of wasteful! It's disgusting to think that the taxes of millions of good, hard working American's are going to pay for this lavish vacation for the last family.

And here's something else to think about... Since $.42cents of EVERY DOLLAR that we (the government) spends is borrowed from China and elsewhere that means that $42,000,000 million dollars of this fiasco will have to be repaid, along with the interest on $42,000,000.

I am just as ticked off as you are. I am tired of ALL the politicians acting like royalty and thinking that they are the greatest gift to the american people. Most politicians - our esteemed emperor included have never held a producing job in their entire lives. They could not even run a profitable lemonade stand, they would either steal the lemons from the little old lady down the street or use a credit card to purchase an overpriced table. We have to have a change, They work for us, they are paid by us. If i have to take a pay cut, then so should they, if i cant take a vacation because the economy is sagging, then neither should they.

IMHO - Fire them ALL! and institute term limits and uphold the constitution. The constitution is not a limiting document - it does not tell the government what they cannot do, only what they can do. If they do anything outside the constitution, then they should be held accountable.

For ease, lets assume there are 100,000,000 current tax payers. (which is probably close).

So this trip, you say, will cost up to $100,000,000.

So that is a measly 1 dollar per tax payer.

Are you really that cheap?

You wouldn't spend a single dollar on the hope that Obama goes to a third world country and gets shot?
