NOTCHED TRANSOM?

I wonder if the motor shaft is 20". Mine is similar without the notch for a 25' shaft. Bill Mc ;D

ya'll think that might cayse a problem? i got a 175 with a 25" shaft that dont run. got a 150 with a 20" shaft that runs great. was thinkin of doing some trimming myself.

175 and 150 are the same motors and weigh the same in most cases. So it really doesn't matter which one you use.

Why would you cut down the transom any way?? Just use what the boat was made for 20 or 25.

And if it is a 25" and you have a 20" motor they sell spacer kits or you can get a lower unit from a 25 and add to your 20.

Just a thought?

I just think anyone who cuts the ransom down is looking for trouble.

tx guys, the 150 is a 79 model. the 175 (25") is a 92. have to remove powerhead on 79 if i want to change mid section. never heard of spacer b4. just wanna run 150 till i get 175 runnin. i picked up a ss gill bracket and swim platforms today for 50 bucks. came off of an 05 kencraft center console that got TRASHED in katrina. i had to pull it myself but, still sounded like a good deal. only took 15 min. i dont know. i prob paid to much. anyways thinkin i will mount bracket 5 inches lower and run 150. just fill holes with 5200 later. or is that another bad idea? tx guys

yeah that was a deal. make the boat a solid transom now an use the bracket.
