Default Her last ride

Well our V took her last ride this past weekend. We had a great weekend camping up on Lake Anna cruising around with the kids and on our way home Sunday she took a deadly blow from behind. A F-150 clipped the motor at about 45 mph and totaled the boat, motor and trailer. The bunk split and the boat fell onto the metal brackets, the lower unit is tweaked and scratched, steering pivot point is tweaked so the motor won't trim down, trailer is cockeyed, and the transom is cracked. A bunch of other little things here and there, but enough to kill her. Right now I am still waiting to her the final settlement number from progressive but from what he pitched me it doesn't sound too bad. Total bummer it happened this early in the summer but at least we still have the McKee to putz around the creeks in.

That really stinks. Your already looking at the bright side, but that doesn't deminish the carnage. What is next?

You didn't say but I am glad it sounds like no one got hurt. Sorry for your loss.
One of the reasons I don't like towing is the congestion I have to go through to get to where I launch. I worry about just that all the time.
Get your settlement, find another. And be thankful no one got hurt.
The last time I saw a boat on a trailer get hit here the SUV pulling it had rolled down an embankment with a family on board.
Good luck.

Not sure. Funny thing is we spent the entire weekend talking about how much we really liked the V and how it worked great for us so we may pick up another one. Right now if I had the jump I think it would be a v20/21 or a Grady White 208. We do a good amount of trailering (suburban 1500) and I don't want to go much bigger and everything else besides those have tiny cockpits.

that's the only reason i have insurance on my boat. when we were trailering to the keys a lot( back in the 1.50 a gallon days), that was my biggest worry. if you are considering another V, might want to see what the ins co will sell you the salvage for, or drop it off at skools and let him do his magic on it.

Cool

Dude....that plain sucks!! Glad you and family are ok. The desth knell is the bracket going up into the hull. The bad news is no amount of fixing will ever make that right. The good news is it sounds like you're going to get a new boat soon. What did the driver of the F-150 say?

Yep that sucks!! Glad all the family is well!! The boat can and will be replaced, not the family!!
As stated above if you have room or a place to store it you might want to keep the V till you get another, as we know parts are hard to come by, and you have all you need right there!!
Good Luck!

Sorry about the bad news.....If the insurance company lets you keep it after they settle up you can start parting out the odds and ends on it and pickup a few extra bucks. If you guys remember thats how I got my enclosure, fuel tank, and seat and Destroyer got his bow rail....guys boat got hit while towing, got a nice settlement and then sold all the goodies on the boat.

Thanks guys, forgot to mention everyone was okay, and that's what mattered the most. Picked up my settlement check today and was pleasantly surprised with the payment amount. I thought about taking the repair money but in the end settled for a complete loss and turned the title over. I just don't have the time or space for another project. Plus, I am on the hunt for something newer. As far as the guy in the F150, he was extremely nice and felt really sorry. His biggest concern was we might have been heading out to start our vacation and he ruined it!
