My dad is looking at buying a used 07-09 21' North River seahawk. Has anyone been out for a ride in one? Are they a good fishing boat for the coast And or how was it in rough water\weather? There are few he is looking at with motors from 115 to 150HP. Any info helps please and thanks Happy New Year

I checked out their website. Looks like an all aluminum well built boat. 1/4" thick bottom is the standard for tough aluminum boats.

Nice looking boat. Being ex-Navy, I know a thing or two about Aluminum on boats in the open ocean. I spent several years on a Destroyer that had a completely aluminum superstructure, as well as 15 months on an all aluminum Swift Boat. Simply put if you maintain it properly it will last a long, long time... but if you fail to maintain it, then it won't last a decade. Even anodised aluminum will corrode under the onslaught of constant salt water, so the boat will need to be sweetwater washed constantly. That's the downside.. the upside is that it's strong, lightweight and easily repaired if it gets into a fight with a rock or a dock. I have no idea about this particular boat, although, after visiting their website http://www.northriverboats.com/I will say it does look very well built. Truthfully, I wouldn't mind having one. I just check out the website, the lines of some of their models look almost identical to the 1974 Starcraft I had. Of course it was thin and rivited instead of thick and welded.
