| Trolling Motor Options

I have a V20 steplift with a 165 mercruiser I/O. I want to get a trolling motor for it but not sure what is the right size range. All suggestions welcome. Thanks - Peter

I use a 9.9 Honda four stroker on the stern, but if the truth be known, a 15 -20 would be a better "get home" engine. Don't misunderstand me, the Honda is a great engine that pushes me just fine for trolling, but if the main engine fails, it's gonna take a longer time to make it back to shore with the smaller engine is all I'm saying.

| Gas - 4 stroke

Yes, I'm looking for a gas 4 stroke. Like the sound of the 15-20 hp. I'm also assuming that I will need a long shaft and hope that I can link it to the out drive for steering. Also thought about a trolling plate for the out drive but like the thought of and extra motor on board. I will remove one of the platforms to facilitate motor mount.

I'm using a 25" Yamaha 15hp with a 4 blade Solas 7" pitch prop for a kicker. It pushes the boat at hull speed (approx 7mph), and works great in a head sea or into the wind.
