Default Be careful use good sense. Missing boater

We have a man missing out of Pensacola Pass since Saturday. He went fishing at 4 am in his 32 Outrage Whaler and has not been seen since. THey do not know what happened to him nor have they found his boat. Obviously it does not look good at this point. He did not have a float plan filed but the Coast Guard was looking to a 100 miles south covering a huge area, but have called off the search. We all know whalers don't fully sink, could have rolled. HE could have fell off. HE could have been hijacked, the boat it is super expensive. HE could be hiding out somewhere. No one knows. If he still is onboard or floating it is going be a rough next few days our seas are getiing bigger by the hour calling for up to 14 feet by Sunday, due to this soon to be tropical storm camping out. It is very unfortunate and really makes me think about things I 'll do differently now when running the boat alone. I do not personally know him, we did graduate from the same high school and we have many of the same friends. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.

This is one of the worst things for a boater to read about. Keep us posted.

I heard the other day that most single boaters found dead have their zippers down...fell in while taking a leak...

Default Found the boat 550 nautical miles due south of Pensacola

Perhaps he was trolling with auto pilot on and fell over or found a broke down boat way out that did not want to be found by Coastguard and needed to go back to Mexico. THis is the MExican newspaper story it is a bit sensationalized and unaccurate boat had nothing to do with Cuba. Maybe he still has a chance.

Here is what the local Mexican media reported on their website....

PROGRESS-Elements of the Ministry of Navy of Mexico (Semar) and personnel of the port captain, ensured yesterday afternoon a yacht of recreation which was adrift off the coast of this port.
The ship, which would have been for illicit activities, specifically for trafficking in persons according to the sources, is the yacht "Monkeybar II", with enrolment of Florida, United States.UU., FL5961NJ.
The yacht is a Boston Whaler of about 30 feet in length and it was found by fishermen of Chuburna, as confirmed to ProgresoHoy.com height Captain Elias Cordoba Araico, owner of ports in the State.
The delegate of the captaincy in Chuburna, Gaspar Trejo, explained that it was the fisherman
Luis Rolando Yam Chan who found the vessel to approximately 10 fathoms of this station, which is why her remolcó to the fishing shelter "Gilberto" of that community.
The yacht, which could well be considered a prisoner of sea where the fisherman claim ownership of the ship that was abandoned, has two engines Mercury Outboard in perfect working condition.
Staff of the Commander of the Naval zone IX confirmed the assurance, and pointed out that yesterday carried out an inspection to the ship. It transpired that the yacht has no traces of drugs, so it is presumed that it would have been used for trafficking in human beings between Cuba and the United States.UU. The ship will remain in custody of Federal Maritime shelter (Remafe). The yacht, according to people linked to the environment, would be valued at about $800,000. Most investigated by the authorities in this regard.
