I'm rebuilding a '96 Kawasaki 750 jetski motor because the rings on one of the pistons seized and basically broke the piston. While taking the motor apart I noticed that one of the exhaust port got damaged on the lower part of the port(see example image attachment). I'm thinking that since the damage is on the lower part of the port, then I can't really see what effect it would have, but I'm not sure, so I'm hoping someone here can give me some advice. Is it ok? Should I resleeve?
Thanks, Rey Ooops, I think I posted in the wrong area. :) Last edited by reyb; 05-01-2011 at 06:44 PM. |

that will put out your intake timing it may not push intake gases from the crank case to the cylinder bore and the rings may not go completely past the hole so i would say its junk

Doing some research right now and one of the hurdles is the resleeving. There are some articles about putting the head in the oven(400 degrees) and pressing out the sleeve and then pressing in the frozen new sleeve in. Some people say its' relatively easy and some don't. I'm currently look at around $200 for a new top end kit(2 pistons and gaskets), $65/sleeve and $225 to install the new sleeves and bore.
