Default Charleston Pictures!!

OK guys..here are pics from Spare's Get-Together this past weekend...I said earlier we called it "Spare's" so if it went in the dumper we could blame him...well not only did it NOT go in the dumper, it DIDN'T go in the dumper BECAUSE of David!!...Photo documentation of Spareparts literally LEAPING TO THE RESCUE to follow...but first...

Two of the Vs...Vic's and Capt Pete's in the assigned for the weekend parking spaces at the Best Western...turned out to be a great place for those who stayed there and somewhat command central for the entire V-20 Mission

While putting in, this little bugger showed up...perfect for chasing Reds across the shallows of Charleston

Looks a little tippy, but w/15 HP probably pretty good at it's assigned task...

Pete and Vic (RidgeRunner) holding at the dock...

Here comes Rob's boat and now the interesting part...w/Willy on the bow-line, and motor warming up, suddenly it starts running faster and faster and FASTER...we're watching it rev up too high and suddenly outta nowhere, SUPER-SPARE leaps into action!!...he had that top off quicker than a stripper w/a C-Note in her G-String!!...f

Even got the attention of one of the locals...

Spare knows what he's doin' (good darn thing SOMEBODY DID) and gets the unruly Yammer back under control...

Still haven't heard exactly what caused the problem, but it wouldn't shut down w/the key as the revs went outta SIGHT!!...anyway, Spare truly saved the day(and Rob's whole trip: possibly his motor as well)...the irony; Spare just HAPPENED to be working a job at the dry-stack at Shem Creek where we were putting in...slim chance he'd be there, but there he was...good to see ya, Man!!...

Underway idling outta Shem Creek the guys are ready for any adventure to arise...sorry about the photo repaet

Possible result of too much wobble-water while boating...in Charleston??...you gotta be KIDDIN!!

Some of the local beauties...

Love the name...and here's one you might like, CB

More to come inna little while...I gotta go raid the fridge...all this boating is makin' me horny...I mean HUNGRY...

W/me ridin' w/Vic in his SUPER DELUXE CC, I'd better get pics if this darlin' while I can...idling around waiting on me to park the truck...this is Saturday Morning using the Remley point Ramp...still windy conditions convinced us running across the harbor maybe not the best idea...

Pulling away from the ramp, Rob's V seems to be a tad stern heavy...hmm...

Taking on a last minute crew member...my oldest daughter, Addie has heard there's boatin' & FISHIN' goin on and she's not about to be left out
With the Ravenel(Cooper River to me and many others)Bridge as background, we head out...

Good thing Addie decided to hop aboard...turns out SHE'S the one who knows where the fish are...after a little misdirection on my part, we find "The Barge"

We line up the 3 boats across the front of the barge...in a little while there's excitement comin' from Capt Pete's V...shortly after Michelle is screamin', so now we're SURE they're catchin' fish over there

One of the causes for excitement...Lee shows off one of about 10 Reds & Black Drums they pulled off that barge...Willy and Rob managed to get one or two and our second trip back to the barge netted a nice Black Drum for me...Vic VERY relieved his boat didn't get skunked on the day...I was feelin a little better as well...those blacks pull pretty good and after the FL trip, I NEEDED a good string-pullin'!!
Later on, Vic found this little creek...and Up we went...SKINNY water w/some 8-12' holes we figured to find some FEESH...nope...but Wally Gator greeted us from bankside

We fished about 15' from him for 20 mins or so before he finally slide on into the water...smilin' the whole time...
Vic's little daughter, Melissa was a real trooper the whole trip

She never complained rather kept the boat clean both days we were out!!...not a speck of anything hit the deck she didn't take care of right away...we all need one of her on board!!...

Nice shot of Rob's V stretched out, planed up and doin' what these boats do best...

On way in there' some chop...nothin' Rob, his trusty crew and a good V-20 can't handle

Closer to the ramp, we approach Rob and Vic says there's a boat behind Rob's boat, outta sight...sure enough, David has his great little McKee out in this chop to come find us and let us know the oysters are about ready...

And off he goes back toward the harbor...he ain't skeered!!...

Back at the harbor, we find a Three Master...don't know the story here, but fun to look at...hey Spare...what goin' on here?...

Here's abetter shot of the Ravenel Bridge...

Named after former Governor Ravenel, whos' son was later busted for an amount of cocaine classified as dealing weight while holding one of the higher state offices(can't recall which)...soon after the news of his bust became public, the white line down the middle of the bridge was immediately named for junior...state politics...gotta love 'em...NOT!!...

Meanwhile, back at the marina, Spare has a REEL PURDY mess o' oysters well under control

While Vic proves once again, he's the Hot Dog KING

What I didn't get pics of was Vic whippin' out his MAGMA grill while we were anchored in Breach Inlet and cooked up a TON of dogs and brats for all to eat...and EAT they did...we pulled all the boats up on a little sandbar close enough to hand off the dogs from boat to boat...why no pics?...man I was too busy eatin' brats and dogs, THAT's why...good show, Vic!!...they hit the spot!!...
So as the oysters get ready, the hungry snaggers gather round the table...

Did I say OYSTERS??...

Lee had told me to have the camera ready and what he was up to...so in mid-shuck, he springs his surprise on Willy!!...and none too soon!!...oyster juice was flyin' as Willy shucked thru the tasty crustaceans like he was in cruise control

Finally the group shots...

And w/those final clicks of the shutters, Spare's 1st Annual Charleston V-20 Get Together comes to an official close...although a relatively small crowd, I proclaim it a rousing success!!...

All who showed up had a large time...some, their 1st visit to Charleston and SC I think will agree it was definately worth the trip...we ate good from FINZ to Reds to Sea Breeze Marina where David served up the best oysters I ever had...we'll see ya'll next year for sure...who knows...some of these guys might be permanent SC residents by then...only the future can tell...
