Default One owner 1978 V20 with recent repower available FOR SALE

Hello Wellcraft V20 fans. I just acquired a one owner 1978 Wellcraft V20 with all new (2001) Mercury Marine / Mercruiser power via 4.3L Vortec V-6 and Alpha One Stern Drive. I just posted it on Florida Keys Craigslist. New powertrain has about 140hrs on it. Boat is turn key condition and very clean. Trailered and kept under cover it's entire pampered life. This is the first time I have ever posted to a forum and found this one after doing a quick google search. Hopefully this will get the word out for someone looking for this classic. Feel free to contact me for more information. My name is Bob and my direct e-mail is [email protected]
I tried to post a photo and or a link but am new at this. . .

Just search it on Florida Keys Craigslist where you will also find my phone number.

Ummm........ So let me get this straight... you just bought this V20, and now you're selling it, probably looking to make a quick profit. So you think that it's proper for you to just come here and post in these forums, without even a hello-hi-how are ya? Very well, hi there just jeeps... welcome to the WellcraftV20.com website, devoted to people that already own Wellcraft V20's. <sigh> Thank you so much for drawing that boat to our attention. I'm sure that if there's any interest in purchasing it one of our members will get back to you. Have a nice day.

Sorry Bob.. I owe you an apology. I tend to speak my mind, and I have a hard time with people that just use the site for their own gains without contributing anything to the conversations. Given the facts that you just aquired the boat, and now want to sell it, and given the name you are using, it seems to me that you are just a used car dealer that took the boat in as part of a trade and now wants to sell it. Of course you have the right to post in the "for sale" section and it was wrong of me to let my personal feelings intrude on my greeting to you. Welcome to the site. I hope, now that you've found us, that you'll continue to visit here and perhaps even make a contribution to the conversations every now and then. We're not a Craigslist or an eBay, this is not a site to just make posts to sell things. Indeed, this is a place to come and relax and be with friends, have conversations, learn, teach and most of all, help each other. Truthfully, as to your asking price, given the time of year, the economy and the age of the boat, $5200 seems a bit much. Look in Craigslist at other states (eastcoast mostly) and you'll find newer boats at lesser prices. My personal opinion is that, presuming the boats' transom and stringers are all solid, the boat should go for around $3000. Again, that's my personal opinion and I'm sure others will have different opinions. It's a bad time of the year to sell. Wait till spring time and you'll probably get nearer your asking price. Welcome aboard.

$5200 for a 33 year old boat and a 10 year old motor/od does seem a little sporty. it looks real clean in the pics. not sure about the keys, but IO's are not a popular set up in a salt water boat in this part of fl.

Default I appreciate the opinions

Thanks for the apology Destroyer even though there was no harm done. . . I gave you the benefit of the doubt and attribited your feelings with a good sense of humor. I understand your thoughts anyhow. I used to run a Jeep Wrangler rental business here in the Fabulous Florida Keys hence my sreen name and or e-mail address. Economy and real estate crash here put that to rest. I did acquire the boat for what I thought to be a great deal considering the newer power, and with the intent to sell for a profit despite the I/O set-up not being the most practical for the Keys and or South Florida. That is why I really appreciate being here as I could see this baby going North to fresh water and or to a family that may have grew up with one of these classics. The Keys are pretty busy now with the snow birds, so not the worst time to sell here. Took her on a sea trial today (it's sunny and in the 70's here!) and she really runs out nice despite a hesitant idle. Going to replace the water seperator / fuel filter and go from there as the boat had not been run off the trailer in a couple of years. May need a carb cleaning? Thanks again for the thoughts on all! I will consider any reasonable offers. . . Bob
