do you all think the 2500 would be a bit stiff for the family? should i concentrate on the 1500? i dont want to hear my wife complain if i go for the 2500 and it rattles her a$$. i believe they both have the same powertrain so thats not the issue.

yes, it will be a workhorse but also an all around family truckster. something for the boss to drive to work in 4 wheel when it snows. chime in.

Hey CT, I had the F250, great truck, uses quite a bit more gas even though the engine is the same, everything else is much beefier, at least on the Ford.

I went to the F150 this time, much, much better ride. And if that lady of your is going to drive it around I would suggest a 150.

Sounds like a 1500 is the way to go for you. The 2500 uses the same engine and trans, but that is it. The 2500 will have a solid front axle, heavier 10.5" rear end VS the 1500's 9 1/4", will sit up higher because of the front axle and heavier suspension, and the milage will go down due to the extra powertrain drag.

Yup...what everyone else has already said. If you were going to use the truck for plowing I'd tell you the 250 is necessary, but for what you are planning the 150 will suit you just fine.. and the ride will be a lot easier on both your rear and your wallet.

The 1500 will be great! Mine rides and tows great, but I replaced the 1500 springs with ones from a 2500 cause of the toonge weight of my camper.

1500 will come with 6cyl, 4.8 V8m 5.3 V8, and the 2500 will come with the 6.0 My 4.8 got 14 to 15 mpg, my newer 5.3 now gets 16.5 mpg My brother 2500 with the 6.0 gets 12 to 13 mpg. His ride is a but stuffer but still just fine! But the 1500 will be great! Mine both have 4x4 on the fly, just a push of a button and works great. On the days when the side streets are snow and the main is not I love the auto 4x4, as soon as it skips it goes right in 4x4, great when pulling out of side streets. I have towed up tp 10.000 pounds with mine and had bo trouble with eletric breaks About time you looking at a real truck
