Question anyone know about the Hurricane 20'

Picking up a boat this weekend. Owner says its a wellcraft hull and it sure looks like one but the title says Hurricane. Anyone know about this or was it some creative retitling? There's a few pics for help IDing. Those boxes over the console are hokie but it's clean and the price is right. Note my first mate o the ladder!

Hi

Welcome to the site. I agree with you, it sure enough looks like a Wellcraft hull. Maybe a dual console that someone got "creative" with?
The boxes over the consoles look out of place... additions that do not belong.

The easiest way to find out what/who made it is to look at the H.I.N. of the boat. It will (usually) tell you the manufacturer and the year it was made.

Default thanks

Thanks for the prompt reply. I didn't even bother to look at the HIN as the owner is giving it to me free (sans engine and the nice bracket, though he is giving me a crappy one) and it actually has a title. Once I pick it up I'll inspect more thoroughly. Right now I need to find a trailer to bring it home on. Mine's too small. It have a 4' crack along one of the chines but access is fair and I have a whole roll of cloth. I'll be seeking advice/posting pic's of the damage next week. Thanks again!

Never heard of Wellcraft using a "Hurricane" model name as far as I know....agreed sure does look like a V-20 hull. Nice bracket too...get rid of those crazy boxes on the consoles and you got one sweet looking boat.

Wonder what those boxes were used for. Hurricane is a pretty popular manufacturer of "deck boats" used on inland lakes, but I have never seen a Hurricane which looks anything like yours. Nice looking boat.

Thanks guys. Like I said, the title just says Hurricane. Then again, I used to have a Robalo that was titled as a C-Hawk! I think the boxes were for standing behind. Weather/spray protection? Can't help with visibility. They'll be the first thing to go. Unfortunately he wants $400 for the bracket which is more than fair but I have no $$$! He is giving me a stainless bracket that might be homemade but looks like it will be fine. I'll post pics when I get it and get some opinions. Also I have a 140 Johnson for it but it's a 20" and I'm not sure what the other bracket is set up for. I'll probably need to get a 5" riser. Finally a hole of my own to pour (or should I say poor ;) ) money into!
