I had the 160 Blue for a few years, never really got mine to work right. I think it had a glitch somewhere, I could be fishing and all of a sudden it would power down (didn't lose power, just shut down). When it did work I thought it had good detail for the money. Mine just died one day, even a local electronics guy couldn't figure out why, it was old enough I didn't worry about it.

I like the Garmin GPS/Chartplotters. The land countours are not 100% as it will occasionally show your route over land but I have seen the same error on my new Lowrance. I have the 192C (about the same features as the 182)on the Whaler and had a 2006C Garmin w/Depth Module on another boat. WAAS helps GPS accuracy and has never let me down to get within a few feet of my target. Bluechart maps are pretty good, there are probably better systems out there now but 10 years ago the 182 was pretty high end. My brother-in-law uses the 160 Blue Fishfinder, he likes it for the simplicity and cost and it works well for him in the shallow waters around Tampa Bay.

just call garmin tech support they will help you very good to deal with. for example i have a 951 XD chartplotter from northstar works great but anytime it fails cost for any repair or update is expense our products gone buy the wayside damn japs got total control and very reasonable prices and their products work

I use to own the 160 and 165 or 163?? garmin and they both worked great!

I sold them with the V20 but always got me home and found fish, I could see my line jigging off the bottom, is was great.

A buddy I striper fished with had a 160 blue. No problem seeing the bait and fishies. I liked it so well I decided on a garmin 250df when I was bought mine.

I wont comment on garmin because I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING GOOD TO SAY ABOUT ANY OF THEIR PRODUCTS.
