Day out with the Family
Things have been kind of slow around here it seems so I thought I'd throw up some pics.. For a change the last two times out I've launched in Sayreville (really nice ramps, quiet, washdown, easy parking) and made the run all the way out the bay up into Sandy Hook. 62 mile round trip last Sunday so it was more boating then hanging out.
Missed a buoy trying to get around the ammo pier and had the navy on my *** out of nowhere with sirens blazing and two bow mounted machine guns (not manned though) . Kids looked like they were about 15 years old and having a blast. They asked to board at first but by the time they circled around to come up on me another pleasure boat was inside us cutting across so they just asked me if I knew it was restricted area , and to be careful and went after the other guy. Anchored up in the Navesink River for a while, Or I guess I should say grounded up for a little while. Tide was dead low and I forgot you sort of need to approach this area parallel to the bank instead of going straight in. So anyway we were captive for a little while until we got a little more water. Also got my son tubing again after his broken leg . He's actually been very mobile for a month at least but this was the first time we got him out tubing again.

Sweet looking pics RW..
 Thanks for sharing. Have you ever considered launching in the Hackensack River in Seacacus and running down to Sandy hook that way? There's a great, free ramp that is dredged all the way out to the center of the river, so you don't have to worry about tides, and as a bonus, on your way back in the inside of your engine gets a good 15 -30 minute sweetwater rinse. (Oh, and did I mention that the river right there is a hotspot for Stripers?)

Those are my grounds too RW, great pics. Curious where in the Navesink you are tubing, do you go way up river from the bridge?
You are right that is a long run from the ramp you are using, even more so from Seacaucus. We all got to hook up and fish in a few weeks when the stripers start returning in numbers. Fluke are pretty spotty right now, dozens of shorts before a keeper comes in. Sea Bass are coming over the rail though. When you go up that river you go right by my marina, Twin Lights, right next door to the Wind and Sea Resturant.
