Default 7/10 & 7/11 Murrell's Inlet Fishing Report

Four of us fished the 78 degree waters of MI aboard my good friend's boat Reelslick this past Saturday and Sunday. We had hoped to hit some points further east but Saturday was not the best day for a long run in a small boat. Instead we stuck pretty close in and pulled dead baits for kings and spanish. Saturday we returned to the dock with one +/- 13lb king and 4 spanish, one that went 6 lbs on the bathroom scales (IFGA certified - NOT)! My digital scale is on the blink so we did some fancy math and used the bathroom scales to get a close estimate LOL. We had quite a few bites that did not come tight, including one that did come tight but managed to sneak away boatside - another 6+ lb spanish. Bummer.

Captain Slick holding the big spaniard just after he caught it:

Back at the ranch, me and the 6lb spanish had a staring competition to see who could go the longest without blinking - he won:

Cory "Wha, whaaaa" Sanchez with his king:

Sunday, the seas were much more inviting but the crew, weary from the previous day's excursion coupled with the disdain for adding more propellant to the ship's fuel cell and the need to make it back to the upper Carolina the same day, decided to return to the same nearshore spot as fished on Saturday. Got bit deploying the first #2 planer but came unbuttoned. From there on it was pretty slow with just a few spanish, so we made a move to a spot 6 miles to the north where we picked up another nice spanish @ 22" FL. It got slow there and flipper was all around so we buzzed back in to the 3-mile where we got a couple of strikes and a pair of blues but not much else before heading in around 1:30 pm with less than a half-dozen immigrants in the hold.
