Oh MY....
Found this forum by accident, I'm so stoked it exists!!!! I have a '77 Step with a 2001 Johnson 115. I use it for spearfishing so it's pretty bare bones, no nonsense machine. I have a ton of questions about so bare with me. I'll post pics asap....

Jack, you'd be surprised how well that boat does with that on it.
Mine when bought new in 1975 (by my Grandfather) came with a 125 horse and would do around 32mph, loaded for 2 people and a days worth of fishing stuff, back then beer was the main ballast, fuel and ice was secondary.
