Default Transon Repair Progress

So it didn't rain today so I started the transom work based on the countless hours of reading and youtube. As usuall I have questions.

Got the bold plugs pretty much done. Patched the inside first, let dry.
Preped wood plugs and inserted them and glassed on the outside.

Found a little bit of rot on the bottom seadrive hole as shown in pictures. My though is to cut with a sawsall straight down to see if in an inch or two the rot stopps. Bottom hole is only slightly rotted on the bottom side and it doesn't seem that bad. Top hole is solid all around.

Is my thought of cutting down some the prefered process or should I be scooping the wood out and filling in with something?

Nice and clean work, tap yourself on the back, as for the rotten part, its your call, I personally will scoop or drill some holes into it from the expose surface and inject resin in it and then fill it it as planned..

I used wood dowels coated in resin for the smaller holes; it worked really well.

I think cutting another inch shouldn't hurt things. Here's a link to my gallery where there are some pics of when I went through the same thing you're going through (but without the wrot...)

Yep, I reviewed your pictures before starting. Used same dowel process on the holes last night with much success.

Will try to scoop out the wood and fill with resin to see how it works. May cut if while scooping it seems to be more rot.

Couldn't do it, just scoop out stuff so went down a little with saw. Looks better but still used scoop and fill to the sides where it has a little bit.

Moving along. Holes are not fully sealed yet, but another day or so and they will be.

Cut out wood, glassed on inside, put wood, glassed on outside.

I could only do 2 layers of wood as I was using 3/4 marine ply. So on the outside, i've having to build it up with glass.
