Hello everyone,
I bought a V20 step lift cuddy out board 1984 today. I was looking the catalog of the years 1983 and 1985 for the V20 step lift cuddy because there is not the year 1984 info in the web site. I'm looking for the weight of the boat. outboard engine, 150Hp Mariner 1 920 lbs is enrolled for the year 1983 and the same weight for the 1985... I'm i undustanding correctly this information ? Am i correct with this interpretation ? My question is - what the weight which I must refer to buy a trailer to be safe? Thank's ... from one who is learning english whit you ! Sorry guy's |

Hey, congratulations on the boat, and many happy days of boating to you. I cannot help you with the exact weight, but I would think you are right on with the 920 if that is the "dry" weight of the 1983 and 1985 without motor. You need to figure in the motor weight, of course, and I am sure others will be along to help with that shortly. Add to that gasoline (you may call it petrol) at about 8 lbs. per gallon, and then all the accessories. I would figure you would be perfectly safe with a trailer with a capacity of 5000 lbs., and you may be able to get by with less. I would recommend a dual axle trailer, either galvanized or aluminum.
Again, congratulations, welcome to the site, and good luck with your new cuddy. |

Lets see,
1920 for boat 480 for 60 gals fuel 70 (?) for 15 horse Merc 405 for 150 horse Mariner 2875 pounds is what we are already up to and that ain't throwing the trailer weight into the equation! Most of the V's can get away with a single axle trailer BUT it is best to do a dual axle (like nipper said) considering the tires being under almost maximum rating, especially for long trips. I'm gonna upgrade one day. And ct, I'm led to believe the Canadian French and the Louisiana French is two completely different animals, especially by parish seperation.

I am in the market for a trailer right now as well, I am going to get one that holds at least 4000 pounds(1818 kilos), I think that will easily cover a fully loaded V-20.
Congrats on the new boat, you got the BEST year, 1984! And welcome to the site, don't worry about your english, it is better than some of the others on here that only speak english.
