Livewell...welcome to the madness here at v20.com!!...how did you come to be interested in these boats?... The V 20 and eventually the V 21 are essentially the same hulls...difference is the transom-extension the motor mounts on as shown below ![]() Keep in mind I said essentially the same "hulls"...over the years Wellcraft made these boats there were many changes...some vast improvements and creature comforts...

Yeah, been playing with a new toy, Around Thansgiving I located and purchased a 1972 340 4-speed Duster with 45,000 original miles....this thing is unbelievable, original paint, interior, engine, trans, rear, everything. I just replaced the original fuel filter 2 days ago! I'm officially out of room now! This is my 4th 340 car but 1st 4-speed....I had forgotten how fun they are to drive :) Well won't be long now, be pulling in one of those black drum in about 2- 3 months. Went out 3 times striper fishin in the bay caught a few 20-25lb nuthin to write home about....It was a good season..big fish were caught just not by me..Ha! Its just been so damn cold this winter, just don't feel like experiencing that much anymore....damn! I'm sounding like Dad now, am I getting old or sumthin? D

There are quite a few differences, but basically the same hull design for the most part. I'll name just a few that I'm aware of:

Essentialy all correct, the later year V20's, I believe from 88-89 have higher floors and about a two inch or so difference in depth as far as interior free board but drain better and take on less water thru scuppers, some as mine (a 92) dont even have scuppers but drain right out the starboard insert by the transom.
The V21's I have seen are about an inch or so higher yet with the same type of self draining cockpits. They have the aforementioned livewell etc. and this along with some storage in the other seat is done with a built in seat platform which some like, some not. I never got the impression of much of a difference in cabin size though they are arranged slightly different, I like the V21's better in that regard. I've ridden in two different V21's and several V20's, owned two of them and there is no difference in how they handle or ride in my opinion. The only substative difference in feel or ride is in the CC versus cuddy with the ride in my opinion slightly better in the CC under most conditions and the nod going to the cuddy in wind rain or at the end of a long day of fishing with a long ride back in definently going to the cuddy as would be expected. The V21 has a more modern top side look and the V20 a more classic look as far as style, but in the end they are both wonderful boats and I would not want to live on the difference. One thing though I have noticed is the Captains of the V20's tend to be much better looking than the Captains of V21's, and when you throw in the real Captain of Hammers old V the V21 guys look outright sickly!
