Default specks 7/19 - 7/20

went out of belle pass that weekend. woke up early and threw the net and caught an assortment of live bait. headed out to the rocks with out much luck. headed back in and waited for the afternoon. later on in the late afternoon we caught 20 specks .the smaller ones like usual were hitting on the sliding cork, where as the larger ones were on the bottom hitting on live bait via carolina rig. smallest one around 14" to the biggest around 18". sunday around 10 am hit the surf action on grand isle and picked up another 17 descent sized trout. they were very fineky that day. they only wanted to hit a pink minnow from the sliding cork. all in all very nice weekend boat ran well and seas cooperated with us. also sorry for the lack of pictures i will try to see if i can dig some up.

Nice, report. You ever hear of Lake Solitude. North of Baton Rouge. Used to be a huge plantation?

West of St. Francisville, don't even show up on a map!! My best friends wife, Born and raised in the area. Over two thousand acres been in her family since before General Lee was a sparkle in his daddy's eye. Used to be one plantation now is divided among her and her two siblings and her Poppy who still lives there. poppy is my personal hero and who I want to be when I grow older.
Anyhow My buddy and his wife have just under a thousand acres and it is all woods, plus he bought his own land to add to the kitty over the years when adjoining land came available, approximatly 300 more acres.
His family home is in Red Stick but he is in Solitude every weekend and more, sometimes commutes into work from there. All rolling hills, old growth woods, big live oaks and hardwood swamp. About fifteen minutes to that little stream you all got down there.
I love it.

it is very nice country up there in st. francisville, my parents have been trying to find a place they like so they can retire up there in a couple of years. your friend is a fortunate man. theres nothing like having a place, as serene as that, in which you can visit anytime you would like. they must have deer and fish in there like you would not imagine.

It is beautiful, I have spent a week there with him and his family and mine twice now. Of all the places I have taken my kids on trips, islands, disney, shore places it is the only one they consistently ask me to go back to.
I hope your folks find something they like there. The lake is small, about 12-15 acres, created by their family when they built a dam decades ago, it follows the contours of the hollows there and is a joy to fish in.
You are right, he is a lucky man. A good friend too.. He and I have been best friends since we served together early seventies in the army. Never lost touch, talk every couple of months and his kids and mine are all best friends.
