Bow Eye Threads

I am looking for a couple of threads from last year that had pictures of replacement of a bow eye. Problem is when I search for "bow eye" I get a message saying that the minimum length of a search term is 4 characters. Can anyone help me out?

The backing plate on my bow eye was very rusty. I could remove it just by grabbing chunks off with pliers. The eye bolts and nuts, however, look fine so I am thinking I can just replace the backing plate? The glass under the plate looks fine also. Could I just pop a new plate in there with some 5200?

my dad's 23 was the same way because they used a piece of metal instead of ss or alum like should have been done and the reason your eyebolt and nuts are ok is because its ss. if i were you i would fab a plate of alum or ss to replace the rusty metal one and keep the bow eye. and like you said 5200 her back in.

you should be able to go to any metal fab shop and just ask someone for a scrap piece if they charge you at all it wont be much.

I have a couple of scraps of aluminum about 1/4" thick. Thought I would stack them both for about 1/2" total thickness.

I replced mine with a thick piece of alum.and 5200.

I Replaced It With A Stainless Stell Piece And The Rod Too W/ Stainless Steel Rod,. I Used A Piece Of Foam (air Conditioner Conduct Cover) To Cover The Rod For Protection. In The Upper Cleat I Re-glassed The Inside With A Think Piece Of Wood And Backed It With A Piece Of Thick Aluminum.

Also, If You Have Heavy Oxidation, Like It Shows In The Picture, You Can Use Muriatic Acid (be Carefull, Use Eye Protection And Gloves) To Remove That Oxidation.
