reel,
i have a 71 center console that i'm restoring, it has a full liner. the fuel tank was under the console. there was floation down the center from the bow to about 2 ft from the stern. i'm installing a belly tank. was told you must have the floatation, two reasons is safety, and structure to the hull. hope this helps. ken |

75 cuddy with saddle bags.
But this is a I/O!! I was told once, and I am not sure of this now so take with a grain of salt! But in the cuddys with I/O had saddle bags because of the weight of the motor being to far forward. This way it equeled the weight . In the outboard they put them in the floor to equel the weight of the motor off the back of the boat. Is this ture ?? But sounds goo to me

Yeah...mine's a ''74 cuddie OUTBOARD...came with saddles(does anybody need 'em?)...my old rude just died and i'm gonna repower w/150 Honda so won't need near the 80 gal capacity i built into this hull...thinkin' about finding newer hull w/ floor tank...if you ever thought about a Honda, now's a good time...4.49% financing thru 6-30 and Hondason has reduced prices to clear out their stock(according to two different dealers)...Happy trails an' good fishin'

They went to an in deck mounted tank mid 1977 . That was the year that they raised the sides a couple of inches. That gave them more room below the deck .

They added the liner at the same time . That allowed them to raise the deck for flotation and below deck fuel tank . I think the tank size has been at 60 gal. ever since. It would have been nice if they had continued the pre-78 console design on the C.C. . You would have 60gal. below deck and another 50+ in the console .

Thanks Labii...that's just the info I was lookin' for...not ready just now, but thinkin' about makin' several payments on this new Honda, then upgrading hull to newer, in- floor fuel tank model...something to think about...
