So today I put my steering cable in without taking the motor off, I cut a notch in the side of the hole that it comes thru and moved the tilt tube to the left, that's when I got almost screwed I got the cable in, very hard to do that but I got it and the tube went in to much and the engine moved down just enough that I could not get it lined up so after sweating and asking my beautiful wife to give me a hand She hit the port side of the tube while I aligned it from the starboard side and it went in Great but I thought I screwed up the threads I didn't got it all back together And guess what
She steers great I hit the lottery kinda I know there's a lot I wrote maybe this will help someone Got it on without removing the motor Nice

just be sure to cover that notch since that'll be the closest open hole to the waterline. I'm guessing there are quite a few V20s out there with the cable hole notched back to the transom.
