Default Prop slip??

On take off only the motor seems like its not in gear then all the sudden off I go, lasp time is just 2 sec.

But after this happening a few times I am thinking that the prop is slipping, I can here the motor reeving sometimes.

So is there away to ck the prop with out going to a prop shop??

Can a slipping gear or something in the lower unit be going?

Happens when motor is up or all the way down.

Hmm....Can having the trim tabs all the way down cause this to happen?? I am thinking now that maybe they were down a few of the times??

Thanks guys

I don't think trim tabs will do it, they just keep the bow from rising on takeoff.

Are you going straight from neutral to taking off, or idling in gear, then taking off?

What he said? Take a picture of your prop on the lower for us, you may have a problem with the wrong thrust washer allowing excess exhaust venting.

Mac how long have you been using the prop? If it is new to you then it could be the wrong pitch. However if you have been using it for a while with no problems then it sounds like a hub to me.

I would only question it because of the time it is taking to go. I have spun four of them through my boating years (two on my V20). Usually they go completely after 3-5 take-offs, leaving you with an idle speed.

Try another prop, borrow one for an hour if you need to.
Don't think it would be the trim tabs at all.

Having just recently spun a prop, that is what it sounds like to me. It took probably 30 take offs to finally kill mine on the little mckee craft. Have you looked at the hub and are there any signs of wear on the hub?
