Default Hey bigshrimpin

A guy i work with is looking for a 1988 Mercury 150 Power head his blew. What all yrs will fit and what all HP power heads will fit his 1988 midsection?

Any of the 2.0L or 2.4L v6's (135hp - 220hp) will bolt up to that mid section. (I believe the newer 2.5L will be fine too, but I don't know that for sure).

Limitations . . .

if he is just getting a new undressed powerhead (i.e. no carbs, flywheel, electrical parts, etc.) then he should stick with a 150, 175 with verticle reeds.

if he can find a Dressed 2.4L 175hp or 200hp with horizontal reeds and a cowling . . . he'll be rock'in.

The nice part about the 150 is that the gear ratio is 2:1. You can generate a lot of torque with a 2.4L powerhead and that gearbox!!
