Default Reverse Battery Cables

Got the boat back today from having brakes and a flush kit instaled on the trailer. The battery in the Sea-Ray went dead so we pulled the battery out of the Wellcraft. I put the muffs on and my son put the cables on and tried to fire it up and it was dead, pulled the 20 amp fuse from the holder by the starter and replaced twice and THEN my son noticed that the cables were backwards. straigtened out the cables and it still would not fire. What I think happened was the motor was in the trailer position for 2 weeks and maybe it flooded but advaned the throttle to clear it while it cranked and it started. I was worried about the charging system but it's putiing out 13.2 volt on a fully charged battery......I think it should be fine, I never seen it any higher and the battery never discharged ...... I really thought we screwed up big time.......PHEW
