Was out checking on the V today. Noticed the engine wont titlt up or down. ???

It has a new switch in the throttle control. When I push the switch, I can hear a clicking coming from the motor. Is there a solinoid under the engine that works the motor. Would have taken a picture, but with the engine down, I can see anything. Still need the volt regulator checked, now this. :'( No cash available, gonna have to sit for a bit. Going out to grab a Mercury repair manual this week. Airslot, you and I have the same motor, you able to show me the titlt motor or solinoid on your motor. Get out the camera buddy. ;D

2 relays 1 for up 1 for down if they click then you most likely have a bad motor on the unit then take the wife out get her hold button then test voltage going to motor if power then tap motor with hammer it may just be rusty from sitting.

I've seen alot of bad relays but very few bad motors. *The clicking is usually the relay clicking, but they get stuck. *Usually the problem is low voltage from corroded terminals. *I can get you a pic in a day or so, but, in the mean time, if you open your cowling and are standing in the boat...look just to the left of the carbs and you'll see the two relays mounted right there. *They are easy to get at....Hey, is your battery charged up?

Schools, I'd love to come south, but I'm tied up at work ;) Changing out trim motors on 20ish year old outboards is a ball, aint it? I changed out the mid section on my 87 Merc a few years ago because of bad hydraulics, but the motor was still fine.

the OMC ones are a real pain you have to remove the tilt tube (which is always rusted) then remove the six side bolts ( V4 */ V6 and at least one will break) then remove the hugh thru bolts 2 of them ( V6 only) then take apart mid section and take the pump motor off ( which are 3 Phillips which at least one breaks) so then you drill out all broken bolts and rethread put back together and hope it all works. LOL

I have the old style pump that is mounted in the bildge but it gave the same simptoms. Once it was a dirty ground connection on the motor and the second was shot brushes. Check all connections.
