Default Low voltage!

Ive gotta 470 in my vee,and been having trouble starting it when it gets hot. I could let it cool for a few minutes and it would crank on up. I checked the volts at the coil and only had 5.55 volts cold. I couldnt find the resistor wire must be on the backside of the motor. i got out there yesterday and ran a new wire from the ignition wire, which had 12 volts, to the coil. Now I got 12 volts to the coil and with the pertronics ignition it runs alot better. Ill try her out this week to see if it cured my problem. Thanks CY and Spareparts for the advice,I never thought to check that.
