Mrs Stink gets her first deer!!!

I took Mrs Stink hunting with me Wednesday to hopfully get her first deer. We hunted the very warm/windy conditions saturday morning without even seeing a deer at all. I was very disaapointed as I wanted her to at least get an opportunity to SEE somethng so she would understand what gets me so pumped about hunting. We ate some lunch and headed to another spot that I felt she would at least have a good opportunity to see or possibly shoot one. There where only a couple places set up for two hunters so my options were limited. I did not want to miss being there for her first kill for anything. We seen a turkey (which she loved) untill right before dark when a yearling doe stepped out. She fed around at about 80 yards. My wife really wanted a larger doe so she waited. She watched the deer through the scope for about 10 minutes while I filmed. We thought maybe a larger doe would step out, but she never did and light was fading fast. I told Mrs. Stink that if she was gonna get a deer it would have to be this one and NOW. She could barely see through the scope as it was. (thank you Leupold!!) She lined up and BOOM!! She was so giddy and excited!! I loved being able to see it!! We walked down to the end of th field where she layed. It was a perfect shoulder shot and she died quickly. 8)

I have had several "firsts" in hunting this year. First bow kill, first good rack buck, and first year I have killed so many (5 so far). This, however tops them all...by FAR!!! I have always dreamed of being able to take my wife along with me and let her get a deer.

She swears she is a Hunter or.."Huntress" now and will not stop talking about her next trip. ::)


I stayed over Thursday and grunted up a nice buck early in the morning. It was in thick cover and he winded me before I got a shot. I called her and told her about it when I got out of the woods and she was mad she wasnt there to "git him". ;D 8)
