| cabin floor?

what is the original composition of the cabin floor? mine is just the woven and fiberglass now, but it appears there was some glassed in ply just above the hull (now rotted out or just stepped on too much). i'd like to put in a floor of some sort, i like the "bigger" feel of stepping down into the spacious ;D sheepskin clad enclave, rather than that front cushion. it is like being inside the outside of a tauntaun, unlike luke, who was on the inside of the inside. anyway, was thinking about flooring with some mahog over a layer of some resilient material ie rubber or neoprene to absorb the weight of stepping down, then running up to the cushions with carpeted ply, and hatching the two vertical sides to provide storage for lifejackets and jazz. anybody do this or some facsimile? what's your cabin floor look like? |

I'm not quite sure what part you are refering to. Just inside the cabin door there is a section that is 17in by about 32 in. Mine used to have a cushion mounted on plywood that covered that hole. I threw away all my cushions, meldew rot etc... I am making a new cover for that hole as we speak. This will make doing things up front much easier such as pulling the anchor or casting to monster Reds.

mine is glass just like the rest of the hull. I still have the original (i think) cushions but I plan to build a cypress cover for fishing trips when I leave the cushions at home. Doug

Cushions are the things that you use during July and August, midday when the fish aren't biting. You lie down underneath out of the sun with the windshield shut in the middle and the hatch open a third of the way. What a breeze you'll get if your anchored up into the wind!!
