Default T-Top (Hard Top)

I just bought some stainless steel tubing, with the hopes of getting a T-Top made.

Does anyone have any specifications my welding guys could follow to construct the top?

Thanks

Mudda, I don't have any specs...did you ever decide if yours is a Wellcraft or not...if it is, then someone would more likely be able to come up w/that spec...I know if I were having one made for my 20' cuddy, I'd be thinking "LIGHT WEIGHT" and definately go with a fabric top rather than actual "hard" top...lot less weight and just as much shade...if you go that route, determine what antenaes you're gonna use up top and have your welders include mounting places...There's some kind of fabric that's virtually indestructable that's being widely used for tops...can't think of name of it, but bet somebody on this board knows it... ;) :D...be sure your welders leave open pathways for antenae wiring to top...when mounting, suck a draw-string thru with a vacum-cleaner...works like a champ!!... 8)

I've been thinking about a top for mine for a while now...just haven't got off my lazy butt yet. I doubt there are any shop drawings or specs for this kind of thing since they are all custom built and there doesn't seem to be more than a hand full out there. The one thing about stainless is it's heavy so don't over-do the bracing and crossmembers. Also, be sure your welding guy purges the inside of the tubing with argon before welding or you will get heavy oxidation inside the tubing that could lead to failure down the road. Also, I much agree with the fabric top. These V20's aren't heavy, big boats so more weight up top could make it a bit squirrelley in heavy seas.

just my $.02

I would suggest Aluminum tubing if you want to use a hard top. The hard top is nicer to have over cloth due to you can walk on it and mount anything anywhere on them.
