Default Beaufort/Cape Lookout - May 10-12

Frank, we probably just missed each other down there.

Day 1 - Wednesday 5/10

Got out early on a 21ft custom built CC that a friend let us borrow. *Nice friend huh? *;D

Headed to the inlet with 2 dozen mud minnows hoping to make something happen. *Tried the flounders for about 30 minutes and nothing but a couple of small blues. *Decided to start trolling 00 clark s-poons. * Put out two on different sized planers. *Instantly hooked up on the small blues inside the inlet. *About 3 spanish thrown in and a few others lost. *Kept a few blues and the 3 spaniards for 2 hours fishing, not bad. *Later we realize that one of the s-poons had lost its hook - no wonder we couldn't hook up on that rod *::)

Went back out around 5pm to the same spot. *BIRDS! *With Spanish on top! *Fished less than 2 hours and had plenty of Spanish with 5 fish over 20".

Day 2 - Thursday 5/11

Offshore! *Left the dock around 6:30 headed for Big Rock. *Nice and calm till we got past the shoals. *Downhill from there. *Big rollers offshore, but the fish didn't mind. *Lines out at 9am, fish on at 9:15am! *40 lb tuna! *Lines back in and steady fish from 9 - 11am. *11:30am hooked up with a dandy double of 18 lb mahi. *With the weather deteriorating, we immediately started the slow ride back in with a following sea. *Me in the orange shirt.

Day 3 - Friday 5/12

Offshore again! *Weather was slick calm all the way out the whole time. *Very fishy looking weedlines with beautiful water, but could only entice 2 mahi to bite and lost one of those. *Bummer.

Pics of the boat (yes that is me in the reflection, and yes that is my Homer Simpson hugger - Doh!

Came back home Saturday morning. *It was a great trip
with a crew of great guys. *

P.S. Skools, the boat is at Town Creek and its called Black Smoke if you want to check it out.

Hey Skools I can't believe I didn't get a pic of this CC. In the 2nd pic down look to the left - see that bow flare? Its a Carolina style boat. He paid 22 grand to get it built and rumor has it he was offered like 50 grand after it was done. I don't know what you'd have thought of the transom on this thing though. It was about an inch and a quarter maybe inch and a half and had a 115 Yamaha 4-stroke hanging on it! :o Had one of those elbow braces in the center. Its a killer boat.

No, he trailers it. I found another angle that shows a little bit more of it. Let me dig it up and I'll post in a little bit.
